A relaxing second day

We woke up this morning and had a late breakfast at Tin Mine. The breakfast was buffet styled and we liked it. After a heavy breakfast we came back to our room and lazed around till early afternoon. Then we went to the pool and had a really slow afternoon swimming, reading, and staring/sleeping.

Back in the room, we showered and had a coffee. I am looking forward to our adventure in the early evening. The Frisband wants to go out of the resort, to the beach, for a sunset stroll and some authentic Thai dinner.

Indigo Pearl at Phuket

The Frisband and I arrived in Phuket yesterday afternoon. The flight was 1 hr 45mins and the cab ride from Phuket International Airport to our resort was about 15mins. The resort is nice with tin mine as its theme. We have a room on the second floor. There is a big balcony that the Frisband likes. He hangs out there most of the time while I prefer to be in the comfort zone of the air conditioned room with all the curtains drawn. In darkness I bloom.

Check out our bathtub. It is on the balcony!

Me and my eczema

Several years back, I started having rashes on one side of my foot. It all started, or at least that is what I believe, after I wore a pair of shoes which I had earlier sent to the cobbler for repair work. The strap of the shoe had come off and had to be glued back. So, in the beginning, it was just some rashes on the side of my foot where the skin was in contact with the glued part of the strap. The rashes were not that bad then but they were recurring and actually spreading to the other part of the foot. I went to my family doctor and he prescribed me some cream for skin irritation. The recurring rashes on my foot continued for some time and soon my other foot started having the same kind of rashes too. By then, I had gone to my family doctor several times, every time with renewed hope of finding a permanent cure for this problem. Each time, he gave me a different type of skin cream. Some were effective, some were not, and to my dismay, those that started off good eventually lost their effectiveness.

Over the years, I went to at least two other general practioners in search of a relief from my feet problem. I had the unfortunate opportunity to try out all the different types of skin creams in their clinics. I spent a lot of money on my feet. It was not a bedridden'ing problem but it had me physically and mentally fucked for years. I hated to wear shoes because the itch from the rashes would give me hell. I kept trying to find the right shoes but that didnt help and I ended up with way too many pairs of fugly and so called comfortable shoes. It sucked that even without wearing shoes, like on those days when I didnt have to step out of the house, the rashes would start glowing for no reason. I still remember several months back on one late afternoon, I came back from work and was feeling so crap because my feet was itching so much I was in so much pain. Then the Frisband and I had some kind of an argument. I forgot what the argument was about but anyway, I decided to go out alone and get our dinner from a nearby food place. While on my way to the food place, I walked past the phamacy shop and decided to go in and look for something for my feet because the pain was so unbearable. I didnt know exactly what I was looking for but I just knew that I had to get something that could, in my dream, reduce the pain. Even when I was standing there, my feet were glowing with so much pain. I felt so terrible. I felt like kicking away my feet. I felt like dying. I felt that no one could save me. It didnt help that when the young pharmacist on duty walked past me and I asked her miserably if she had anything, just anything, for my itchy feet, she didnt understand English.

I went back to one of the general practioners some time after that and asked him to refer me to a hospital because I really couldnt take the pain anymore. To my surprise, he was not too keen to do so because like most other doctors I saw, he didnt think it was hospital-serious. However, he told me that I could make an appointment directly with the hospital if I want to. He then gave me a different type of skin cream and he told me that that is possibly their last type of skin cream that I have not tried. Unsurprisingly, like most other creams, it was not effective for long.

About two months back, the Frisband encouraged me to go to the hospital to see a skin specialist. He said it would be of no use to go back to the same general practioner and get skin creams that dont help much. I was with him on this. I felt that it was about time to get serious. So on that day, I booked an appointment with the skin centre at Raffles Hospital and within the same day, I got to meet the dermatologist. She was very nice and after examining my feet, told me what she thought would be the cause of my skin rashes. According to her, it seemed like a genetic problem. She said people with this genetic problem would have experienced asthma, sinus and eczema in different phases of their lives. This, on my feet is eczema. Indeed, I have had childhood asthma, moderately serious sinus since my early adult life, and eczema on my legs since childhood time. All these do not bother me anymore now. Even the eczema on me legs. I remember my legs used to itch a lot and I would scratch them non-stop but not now. The eczema is there and that is why my legs are not smooth but that is all about it. It does not bother me.

She gave me skin moisturizer, steroid cream, and shower wash cream. I followed her steps and used all these LIBERALLY as instructed. I also stopped using other bath products. A week later, all the rashes were under control and a month later, they were all gone! I am still using the skin moisturizer and shower wash cream. I was told that I can skip the steroid cream unless the rashes are back. It has been more than a month since the first visit with my dermatologist and I am very happy with the result.

IT WORKS!

Long Monday

I had a class today and woke up early to prepare for school. After class and after settling some stuff at work, it's time with my parents. It was nice seeing them and having dinner with them though the drive there and back was so long and jammed. At one point on the return journey, I was stuck within that few metres for more than 30 minutes. It reached a point where my foot was just pressing and un-pressing the two pedals robotically without me noticing what it was doing or which pedal it was on. I was just so tired, miserable and helpless.

I saw another kitty in the bedroom.

Where is my strength?

I shld not let anything dissuade me from doing what I want. I had wanted to go for a swim today. I didnt. I had wanted to eat healthy. I had oily noodles. I hate the feeling of losing grip of my own plan.

Will be firm with myself from now on.

Raclette with Friends

Last night, we had friends over for dinner. The Frisband was super anxious about ensuring that there's enough food for everyone. He was busy most of the day with buying and preparing food. I helped him to assemble stuff on the skewers (in the most systematic manner, if you have not noticed) when he went out to buy more stuff in the late afternoon.

Look at our table of nice food! It was a fun evening and we had so much food left.

Strange

I was listening to this song that the Frisband was playing on the sound system and I suddenly miss them. I wonder what they are doing now. My old parents.

This photo was taken at my brother's wedding solemnization lunch on 11 March 2012.

Hello Hamburglar

Look what I bought at West Coast Park McDonald's! It is the start of the McDonald's Hello Kitty plushies promotion. There will be a new Hello Kitty every week and there are a total of four different ones. Check out my Hamburglar Hello Kitty. The other three are Grimace, Birdie and Ronald.

The Frisband says that I look good in this photo and I totally agree with him :)

My Missing Frisband

This is absurd. He just disappeared into thin air. His cell phone is off. He is not replying to any of my 162 text messages. I suppose the dinner I made two hours ago can jolly well join the garbage chute.

Update: It was actually a miscommunication. He had to do his ushering duty at an event at work and the event would start at 5PM. When he told me in the early afternoon that he would not stay till the end of the event, I thought he meant he would leave at around 5PM when he's done with his ushering duty. He actually meant he would leave after the performance is over at around 7PM and skip the thereafter dinner reception. As there is no cell phone coverage in the theatre, he was not able to receive all my text messages.

Swiftly, and without arousing any suspicion, I dug out the dinner from the throat of the garbage chute.

Hey love

I am thinking of the Frisband even when he is only about 10 metres away from me. I am wondering how he smells like. I think I am going to him right now to give him an erotic embrace and a #censored

The day my love and I ♥

And it all happened at Rasa Shangri-La, our favourite hotel of all time :)

Blueberry muffins

I finally got to using the pouches which I bought from Holland last year. The bag of pouches was sitting in the kitchen cupboard for a long time until recently the Frisband bought me a pack of muffin mix to get started. Following the instructions on the back, I only got enough mix for 6 muffins. I was expecting more as the pack of mix was pretty heavy.

Check out the muffins!

All rise for my homemade soup

One day, the Frisband and I were at the bookstore and he decided to buy two cookbooks, one for me and one for him. I picked a soup cookbook as I am very passionate about soup and am always boiling with love. Lol. For himself, he picked a mixed dishes cookbook which has both soup and other side dishes' recipes.

Then over the last few weeks, we made several soup and side dishes with the help of our cookbooks. I had a hard time looking for some soup ingredients. Sometimes I wish the supermarket would come with an item search feature that allows ppl to type the name of the item they are looking for and it will return the lane and rack numbers if the item is available.

Check out our lovely dinner food! Can you find my lotus soup and apple soup?

3-Candle Love Spell

I read something strange today, something called the 3-candle love spell. It is a 9-day love spell that uses three candles to attract someone, induce romantic feelings in him/her, and engender passion. The instructions to follow are obscenely lengthy and tedious. And ridiculous. I wonder if there are people who actually believe in such crap.

On an utterly different note, I told the Frisband to buy this set of candle holders. We had three candles burning that night.

Love You Always

So after all the gifts he bought for me on the 9th of each month, I decided to buy him something this month but I got the month# wrong. Duh. Happy 8th month, my dear. Love you. Always.

Hello Kitty Jelly Mould

Two months ago when in Seoul for a holiday, I came across this shop selling Sanrio stuff. I bought a pink Hello Kitty mould from the shop. It actually came from Japan. All the instructions were Japanese. It's so pretty it's love at first sight. Since then, I have used it three times for three different kinds of jelly mix. Some turned out great, some not so great. I love my little pink mould!
